Welcome!
Thanks for stopping by! I’m Ashlee, mom to two boys and wifey of 16 years. Mountaintop oils is my corner of magick, sharing my love of essential oils, non-toxic living and sustainable products. Read on to learn a little bit about me.
In 2012 my youngest son was suffering from severe allergies. They were so bad, his pediatrican recommeded we see an allergist. At our first appointment with our allergy specialist, he asked us a series of questions about what products we used in our home. He asked all about the candles we burned, the room sprays we used and what we did our laundry with. I was baffled by the questions, but answered yes, we use scented candles, yes we spray that good smelling stuff in the rooms and why yes, we use dryer sheets. His recommendation, STOP IT ALL! Come to find out, all of those products, plus dozens of others we used to clean our house and keep it smelling fresh, was only making our sons allergies worse.
The first thing I did when we got home from that Doctor’s appointment was throw away our dryer sheets! That appointment kick-started my journey into non-toxic living. I began learning all about the nasty stuff in most candles, sprays and cleaning products. I started making most of my own cleaning products. A lot of the recipes I found utlized essential oils. I had used essential oils as off and on since I was 13, so I wasn’t a stranger to them, but it had been a while since I had purchased any (like years!). I went to the store and purchased some (please don’t do that! Learn why here), and even purchased some from a friend. As my journey continued and I learned more and more, I realized that my choice in essential oils was just as important as my choice in products filled with chemicals. I had heard about Young Living a few times from some of my friends and decided to try a few of their oils. The first bottle was magick. It was like nothing I had ever smelled or experienced before. I quickly signed up as a member, and now I help other people discover the incredibly powerful potions that are contained in these little bottles.
