Today I would like to talk to you about dry brushing. Dry brushing is amazing for our bodies and really helps on so many levels. It’s super easy and takes only about a minute and a half each morning before my shower. Since I began including this practice in my daily routine, I’ve noticed an amazing difference in how my skin feels. Not only is dry brushing great for your skin, but it also stimulates your lymphatic system, which aids your body in detox. A healthy working lymphatic system is also essential for having a healthy immune system. When you combine dry brushing and essential oils, you get even more benefits!
How to Dry Brush
Put a drop of essential oil of your choice in your hand. Rub the brush back and forth in the oil, coating all the bristles. Starting with your feet, brush in a circular motion moving upwards. Always brush towards your heart. Be gentle! The point is not to tear your skin open, but move with gentle grace. It’s best to do this right before a shower or bath so you can remove all the dead skin cells. Make sure to Moisturize afterwards. Cel-Lite massage oil would be great for this!
Choosing An Essential Oil
Choosing an essential oil for dry brushing is a personal preference and depends on your skin needs. That being said, there are a few oils that are universally great for skin. If you have specific skin care concerns, reach out to me. I’d be happy to make some suggestions.
Frankincense – The skin oil. This oil is amazing for everything skin related, from creating radiance to helping with smoothing.
Geranium – May help with skin regeneration to maintain the appearance of healthy, youthful looking skin. This oil is also a great choice for anyone with specific skin conditions that might require extra care.
Lavender – Calming and relaxing. Perfect for dry brushing before bed. Also great for helping with acne, skin irritations and burns.
Cypress – This oil has been known to help with circulation, which is great in combo with dry brushing.
Rose – Treat yourself like the Goddess you are and dry brush with Rose. It is moisturizing and supports the appearance of youthful looking skin.
when choosing an oil for dry brushing, make sure to research if the can be used topically and if it causes photosensitivity.
